
RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Arriba County teacher has been convicted of raping a student.
Thursday afternoon, a jury found Miguel Garcia guilty on seven counts, all fourth-degree felonies.
District Attorney Marco Serna says Garcia sexually assaulted the student between 2012 and 2013 when he taught at Mesa Vista High Scool.
Garcia faces a maximum of 13 and a half years behind bars for each count. The DA’s office says he is facing a second case involving another student. According to KRQE Media.
